Member FAQ

Q: What is US Imaging?
A: US Imaging is a VIP scheduling program provided to you by your plan sponsor for advanced radiology procedures including MRI, CT, and PET scans. This benefit is for non-emergency imaging only. We provide VIP scheduling at one of our high-quality facilities at a time and location convenient for you. We will also provide you with test preparation information and your actual out-of-pocket costs.
Q: How do I save money?
A: US Imaging contracts with high-quality free-standing facilities across the nation at discounted rates. This, along with our VIP concierge service will help navigate you to a lower-cost, high quality facility.
For example, a typical MRI that is performed in the same zip code may cost between $400 and $1400. If you have a 20% coinsurance, you might have to pay as much as $240. By using US Imaging, we are able to identify a facility in the US imaging network that is cost effective and we explain what your coinsurance will be in advance of your exam. Most importantly, we may be able to save you hundreds of dollars on your out-of-pocket costs.
Q: How does your scheduling program work?
A: Our premier VIP appointment scheduling program schedules members into our high-quality, cost effective facilities. The program works in the following manner:
  1. Our customer service representative receives a call to schedule a test from the member, referring provider or the utilization review organization used by the member's plan sponsor.
  2. Our customer service representative will find the most convenient radiology facility that meets the member's needs (near office or home).
  3. We educate the member about the test they are going to receive, what to expect during the test, and how to prepare.
  4. We provide the member pricing transparency regarding the cost of their test and their out-of-pocket expense prior to their visit.
  5. We obtain a copy of the prescription from the referring provider and fax the copy to the facility.
  6. We provide an appointment confirmation and directions via email to the member.
  7. We call the member to remind them a day before their scheduled exam.
  8. We provide the member the opportunity to conduct an electronic survey on their US Imaging and radiology facility experience.
Q: What are your hours of operations?
A: Representatives are available Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM EST/EDT and Saturday from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM EST/EDT.
Q: Do you have quality facilities in your network?
A: Yes, US Imaging maintains a credentialing process for all facilities in our network that was developed by our Medical Advisory Committee. The process ensures that all machines have American College of Radiology accreditation and/or have met the internal machine and image quality requirements developed by this committee. Approximately 90% of the facilities in the US Imaging network have received accreditation from the American College of Radiology, the "gold standard" for identifying high-quality facilities.
Q: How does your program interact with my insurance benefit?
A: US Imaging is an enhanced benefit offered by your plan sponsor that works in conjunction with your primary insurance. When your doctor orders a scan for you, he/she should contact US Imaging for the scheduling of your test. Note: if your plan requires that the test requires "prior certification or approval," US Imaging will receive notification after the test has been approved and will contact you to schedule your exam. By having US Imaging schedule your exam, you receive VIP scheduling at a facility convenient for you and at a time that fits into your schedule. You also receive important information about the test you are about to receive.
We are here to get the procedure scheduled for you at your preferred day, time, location, and save you money by scheduling you into a cost-effective facility that may save you hundreds of dollars on your out-of-pocket costs.
Q: What is your relationship with the facilities?
A: US Imaging has a network of high-quality free-standing facilities nationwide. We have over 2,200 facilities nationwide and we are growing every day. If your doctor prefers to use a certain facility that isn’t currently in our network, we’d appreciate their recommendation so we can invite them into our network.
We do encourage you to get an estimate from other providers so you know ahead of time how much you will be financially responsible for. US Imaging will always give you the actual cost so you can do a price comparison. You are always welcome to call us back to and have us schedule you into one of our contracted facilities.
Q: Can I just call the facility and make my own appointment?
A: You will only receive the benefits of the VIP program if you call US Imaging to schedule your exam. You may schedule your own appointment if you do not want to use our service, however, you may incur higher out-of-pocket costs if you do not call US Imaging to schedule your exam. We take care of all of the scheduling details so all you have to do is arrive at your appointment.
